Yi!!

It’s time for another great mate debate and this time it’s between Kelly and her husband, Brett. Kelly wants to take their two boys, one eight and the other five, to Disneyworld. Disneyworld was one of the best memories she ever had as a kid and with their kids growing up so fast, she feels it’s the right time to take them before they don’t even want to hang with them anymore.

Brett has never been to Disneyworld, but he knows this trip is going to cost so much money and rather stay afloat financially rather than go. He doesn’t think it’s a smart idea to put them more in the hole over this trip and believes there are plenty of other things they can do that don’t cost money, and still leaves the boys with great memories.

Kelly understands the trip is going to cost some money and although they agreed to never use credit cards, she is willing to put it on one and get another job just to give the boys this amazing memory. She is even willing to sacrifice eating out on the trip and pack lunches just to save a few bucks.

Like Kelly, Slacker is thinking with his heart. How can you put a price tag on watching your child meet their favorite character? It’s true though, it is a truck ton of money and that’s why Steve is going the logical route. He has to side with Brett. They just don’t have the money and to go broke doing it is just not worth it. Plus, jokingly, Steve says bringing joy to a kid’s life is not worth the investment.

I am siding with Kelly on this. I grew up in Florida and I used to go to Disneyworld all the time! It was always so much fun and I don’t even ride fast rollercoaster’s. Disney helped me dream, it helped me conquer fears, and it taught me patience because lets face it, the lines are outrageous. Also, on a side note, I would love Disneyworld today and I’m 22 years old. I don’t think there should necessarily been an age limit of enjoyment. I hope Kelly’s kids get to experience the place where dreams come true.

Whose side are you on?

Twist of fate is back!!

In case you don’t remember what twist of fate is, we pick up one random phone line and we ask that person what they need in their life. Then, we clear the lines and other listeners come to the rescue and help that person out.

Last time we picked up a random phone line, we got Elizabeth. All she wanted was some new carpet because her basement had been flooded from the storms in July. Local businesses and some amazing people came to her rescue and what started out as carpet, turned into a whole remodel. They fixed cracks in her foundation, problems with the electrical wiring, and found and eliminated moisture built up in the walls, replaced drywall, replaced carpet and painted her basement. Now, Elizabeth and her family have an amazing, safe basement where the children can play at ease. Please, please click here and check out all the local businesses that helped us out and if you ever need anything, please contact one of them. Like Steve said, if you want peace of mind, these guys will get it done for you and do it right!

Today, when we picked up a random phone line, we got Angelica. Angelica is hoping in a twist of fate someone can help get winter clothes for her son and her boyfriend. She just had her baby boy and is living with her parents while her boyfriend is jumping from place to place, working, without any jacket, no gloves… nothing. The baby has a few onesies, but they don’t cut it in these freezing temperatures. They are trying to afford a place to live together, so as they are trying to save some money for that, and for all the things the baby needs, they simply forgot about winter. This storm just snuck up on them and although they are doing what they can, they are literally freezing and need some help. If you would like to help out Angelica, please e-mail us at  slackerandsteve at alice1059.com and we will be sure to pass it along to Angelica.

To everyone that has helped out and to all that help us out in the future, we greatly appreciate it and from the bottom of our hearts we thank you! None of this would happen without the amazing listeners we have like you.

Peace. Love – Assistant Producer Stephanie

Rumors have swirled for quite some time that just 2 months into their marriage, Kris Humphries and Kim Kardashian aren’t getting along.  But the reason that is making the situation worst is the fact that Kim’s man has NO JOB!!
Sources say that Kim is juggling her reality shows and multiple moneymaking ventures, while Kris is partying up a storm on her dime while the NBA is in a lockout.
Apparently the two had a big fight just before her birthday last week and she told him he needs to do something productive…he needs to get off his [butt], like, yesterday.

The Office’s Rainn Wilson may want to learn how to use his Twitter correctly.  Apparently he was hired by Del Taco to promote their Macho Bellgrande Burrito.
Well Del Taco did get a mention from Rainn but not the kind they were looking for.  Rainn accidentally tweeted to his 2.6 million followers:  “Joanne- Tell Del Taco I will accept $12K to plug their {blanky} food.  Thanks , Rainn.”
Realizing he confused a direct message with a tweet, 4 minutes later he tweets, “Please disregard last tweet – was a private text to my assistant.”  He added the Del Taco item is actually as “Beeftacular™”

This probably isn’t the type of call 9-1-1 dispatchers hear everyday. A 5-year-old girl grew tired of waiting for her mother to arrive home on Wednesday and decided to take matters into her own hands by grabbing the keys to family’s Lincoln Navigator. Little Ameleah hopped into the over-sized SUV and somehow managed to shift the car into reverse. It wasn‘t until she realized that she couldn’t reach the brake or gas pedals that the vehicle rolled down the driveway and into the neighbor’s yard. Luckily, Ameleah managed to exit the SUV and run back into the house, where she called 9-1-1.

In the call with emergency operator, Ameleah first tried to avoid telling the woman on the other end of the line that she was the one who took the car out, because she was nervous that her mom was going to be ‘pissed’ at her.
As it turns out, Ameleah’s mother had been rushed to the hospital earlier in the day; her father didn’t get the message that he was supposed to pick his daughter up from school.

A performance artist who said giving birth is the “highest form of art” has delivered a baby boy _ inside a New York City art gallery

Marni Kotak gave birth at 10:17 a.m. on Tuesday, the Microscope Gallery in Brooklyn said in a brief statement, adding that everyone was recuperating on Wednesday. It said the baby, named Ajax, was 21 inches long and weighed 9 pounds, 2 ounces.

The gallery said 19 to 20 people were present for the relatively quick birth in a birthing pool. The gallery gave no other details. A video of the birth will be added to the gallery’s upcoming exhibition.

The 36-year-old artist had set up a home-birth center at the gallery, turning the space into a brightly decorated bedroom with ocean blue walls and photo-imprinted pillows.

During “The Birth of Baby X” durational piece, which began Oct. 8, Kotak spent as much time at the gallery as possible talking to visitors about motherhood, art and other issues. She said those who left their contact information would be notified when she went into labor.

She expected about 15 people to attend.

Kotak, who was born in Norwood, Mass., said all her performances focus on everyday life experiences. She has been re-enacting events from her life for more than 10 years, including her own birth, losing her virginity in “a sunny blue Plymouth” and her grandfather’s funeral.

In combining the birth of her child with artistic expression, Kotak said she wanted to show “this amazing life performance that … is essentially hidden from public view” and that addresses social taboos regarding the human body.

“She’s in the tradition of using your life as your authentic material and shaping and forming it” _ a tradition that goes back to 1959 when filmmaker Stan Brakhage recorded the birth of his first child as a work of art, said feminist artist Carolee Schneemann, whose own works deal with taboo themes of sexuality.

“She’s vulnerable, she’s exposed,” she said of Kotak. “It’s the most basic visceral experience that also has the most taboos.”

The entire gallery was given over to the installation. The artist even carved out space for a fully-stocked refrigerator and a portable shower with curtain pockets filled with photos from her three baby showers.

Kotak said she and her husband will share the details of the birth with their child “over time as an organic process.”

“The overall message that we will communicate to the child is that he or she was born in an art gallery because, as artists, that is our sacred space, and in doing this we are telling the world and our child that his or her life is a precious work of art.
