This will be the first time Sam’s Sunday School has done anything outside of the Alice studio and I’m excited to get it going. Plus, it will be a great opportunity for you see some great live and local music for free!

If you are in a local band and are interested in being featured in this fun experiment of mine please email me sam@alice1059.com. If I’ve featured your music before on Alice, I will just need to know of your interest. If you’ve never submitted your band’s music before, I’ll need contact information, a sample of your music and a photo of your band (or yourself if you’re a singer/songwriter).

Thanks for checking out my blog from Sam’s Sunday School. Here you link up with any of the artists that you heard on tonight’s show! Comments are welcome or you can email me: sam@alice1059.com

1. Hedley- Perfect
Album: The Show Must Go
Website: http://www.hedleyonline.com/
These guys are Canadian and named the band after a town in British Columbia. Interestingly enough, their lead singer (Jacob Hoggard) won 3rd place on Canadian Idol in 2004… he allegedly entered the competition on a bet from some bandmates. Their current tour is called “The Show Must Go… on the road.” Clever.

2. Midnight Youth- Golden Love
Album: The Brave Don’t Run
Website: http://midnightyouth.com/
This 5-piece is from New Zealand and this is from their debut full-length recording. In their home country, they have enjoyed success with two songs reaching the top 20. They have toured with Incubus, OK GO and INXS.

3. Plain White T’s- Rhythm of Love
Album: TBD
Website: www.plainwhitets.com
This will be on the group’s 6th release (their first was self-released). Tom Higgenson was recently nominated for PETA’s 2010’s Sexiest Vegetarian Celebrities contest but lost to Cobra Starship frontman Gabe Saporta. Boo! You can currently watch many little videos of the guys working in the studio on their website.

4. The Constellations- Felicia
Album: Southern Gothic
Website: http://www.theconstellationsmusic.com/
A group from Atlanta whose name refers to the various musicians from the regional scene that have played with the group or have contributed to the making of the band’s album. 5. Runner Runner- So Obvious
Album:  Runner Runner (Release Date: TBD in September)

The band will be back in Denver July 18th at the Marquis Theatre with Secondhand Serenade and White Tie Affair.

6. Lost Track: Londonbeat- I’ve Been Thinking About You
Album: In The Blood
Website: N/A
Here’s an interesting tidbit about the members of Londonbeat- They have provided backing vocals for bands like The Fine Young Cannibals, Dead or Alive and Shakespeare’s Sister. Some of the band’s tunes were modest successes in the UK and US (including the follow-up to this one “A Better Love.”)- but they are most definitely known best in the US for this tune which topped the Billboard Hot 100 Chart in 1991.

7. Hanson- Thinking ‘Bout Something
Album: Shout It Out
Website: http://www.hanson.net/site/sections/1
According to the guy’s website- they are planning on playing the Fox Theatre in Boulder October 1st. You can bet we’ll do our best to get them into our Alice AT&T Session Studio before they head to Boulder! Possibly we’ll even invite some of you to join… wink wink!

8. Tegan and Sara- Alligator
Album: Sainthood (their 6th album!)
Website: http://teganandsara.com/
This album is slightly more unique than T&S’s others in the fact in includes a song that is cowritten by the twins. The girls prefer usually to write songs separately. The pair will return to Colorado to play Red Rocks September 10th as part of the Honda Civic Tour with Paramore!

9. Stacy Clark- Touch and Go
Album: Connect the Dots (Release Date: July 27, 2010)

Here are the tunes from tonight’s Sam’s Sunday School!

1. Thriving Ivory- Where We Belong
Album: TBA
Website: http://www.thrivingivory.com/
The band has gone through some changes recently- including the departure of long-time bassist Bret Cohune. This song is the first release from the band’s new album that they are just wrapping up recording. No title or release date has been officially announced yet.

2.  Uncle Kracker w/ Kid Rock- Good To Be Me

3.  Jenna Andrews- Tumblin’ Down
Album: TBA
Website: http://www.myspace.com/jennaandrews
Jenna is one of our latest Canadian imports. Hers is the story of a musician who invited to struggle it took to find her voice and allow others to find it, too!

4.  Daughtry- September
Album: Leave This Town
Website: http://www.daughtryofficial.com/us/node/556873
This single was premiered by the band on last week’s American Idol.

5.  Sara Bareilles- King of Anything
Album: Kaleidoscope Heart (Release Date: late summer)
Website: http://www.sarabmusic.com/
This is clearly a future Sara B ‘classic’ and it hearkens back to her “Love Song” release in the sense it tells those who would control her where to stick it. Keep listening to Alice to find out where you can see Sara VERY soon!

6.  Dot Dot Dot- Stay
Album: I (EP)
Website: www.dotdotdotonline.com
This song is on the band’s first EP release for this year that is available now. The group plans to release two more EPs titled II and III later this year. They just had to replace their drummer who left the band (and wrote a very sweet letter to fans that can be viewed on the band’s site) to pursue something that would keep him a little closer to his family.

7.  Scissor Sisters- Fire with Fire
Album: Night Work (Release Date: June 29th)
Website: http://www.scissorsisters.com/
Night Work will be the band’s third album- this time around they worked with producer Stuart Price who has worked with the likes of The Killer and Madonna. They are currently working on a new website as well… visit the current link at your own eyeballs risk. Yikes.

Here is the playlist for tonight’s Sam’s Sunday School. Please comment if you dig something and would like to hear it again or if there’s something you’re not feelin’. Or you can always send me an email with your suggestions if you’d rather: sam@alice1059.com

Thanks so much for listening!!

1. 3oh!3 (feat. Ke$ha)- My First Kiss  **Local Artist**
Album: Streets of Gold (Release Date: June 29th)
Website: http://www.3oh3music.com/
If you pre-order the new CD from the guys’ website, you’ll get a free download of this song! They also have a special edition available loaded with fun 3OH!3 goodies.

2. needtobreathe- Something Beautiful
Album: The Outsiders
Website: www.needtobreathe.net/
Tickets: www.ticketmaster.com/event/1E004396A83D7943?brand=aeglive
One of the most underrated bands I know. Their latest album came out last fall. They will play the Bluebird on this Thursday.

3. Becca- I’m Alive
Album: Kickin’ & Screamin’ (EP)  or  ALIVE (Full-Length)
Website: http://beccachan.com/
Becca is from Portland, Oregon and when a recording of her ended up in the hands of Meredith Brooks (well-known for her song Bitch), the pair started developing her official demo. She’s since released a couple EPs and a full-length album… all in Japan (when you visit her website you’ll see how much of her music has been utilized there). The single of this tune was released last year with a b-side that is a cover of Heart’s “Alone.” Her first actual US debut EP came out last fall with her full-length released in March.

4. Lifehouse- All In
Album: Smoke & Mirrors
Website: http://www.lifehousemusic.com/splash/
The band has been touring with Daughtry and the reason they weren’t on our date was because they were doing a Vh1 special and had to miss our 1stBank Center show. We’re hoping to get them back a little later this year!

5.Kris Allen- The Truth (Feat. Pat Monahan)
Album: Kris Allen
Website: http://www.krisallenofficial.com/us/home
This is a remixed version that differs from the album. Pat Monahan of Train sings in the chorus and the bridge!

6. Jet- Seventeen
Album: Shaka Rock
Website: http://www.jettheband.com/
Apparently they have a free download of the acoustic version of the song on their website if you click HERE. Warning though- it seems the free song comes with some SPAM so be aware!

7. Joe Brooks- Superman
Website: http://www.myspace.com/joebrooksmusic
He’s was the #1 unsigned artist on Myspace UK until recently. He only lost the title because he is now signed by Universal Republic. Joe is from England and sports a cute red cape in the promo pic for this single. He also has a phone number on his myspace page that says to call for updates… I’m gonna go try it.

8. Sinead O’Connor- Nothing Compares 2 U (History Song)
Album: I Do Not Want What I Haven’t Got
Website: http://www.sineadoconnor.com/

9. Days Difference- Speakers
Album: Days Difference (Available on iTunes)
Website: http://www.myspace.com/daysdifference
DD is from Virginia Beach, VA and formed in 2004. This is from their second album. The band is spending time touring with Jordin Sparks and Kate Voegle. A date for Jordin Sparks was just released. She’ll be here July 12th at the Ogden. Tickets went on sale Friday.

10. Tyler Hilton- Sunset Boulevard (ANA Recording)
Website: http://www.tylerhilton.com/
You can see a vid where Tyler tells the story of Sunset Boulevard on his site.

11. Tyler Hilton- Hard to Love (ANA Recording)

12. Tyler Hilton- This World Will Turn Your Way (ANA Recording)
